Anna Maria Lagona

Anna Maria Lagona began her fitness journey at a young age, participating in group sports, physical therapy, and figure skating. She earned an associates degree from SUNY Niagara in human services with concentrations in fitness, nutrition, and disability studies. In 2019 she was introduced to Joscelynn Baio at SowFit/FitnessAbility,Inc. Joscelynn recognized Anna Maria’s determination and drive, and trained her to instruct Silver Sneakers®. During the pandemic, Joscelynn encouraged Anna Maria further by giving her a scholarship to become a B1 Zumba® Instructor. Since then she has furthered her training by earning her AFAA®, Group Fitness instructor certification.

Anna Maria has been a member of Challenged Athletes Participating in Sports (C.A.P.S.) for the past 30 years as an athlete and then as assistant coach. She is currently a team member of The Special Olympics Powerlifting Mafia at FitnessAbility,Inc where she enjoys pushing her body to the limit with the wonderful Coaches Jeff Koch III, and Jeff Koch Jr, and her inspirational teammates. She also teaches Zumba and SilverSneakers at FitnessAbility,Inc as well as in group homes and senior centers in the area.

Terrance Hasan

My name is Terrance Hasan, I was born in Buffalo Ny. I have been working for People Incorporated for the past 15 years. I was nominated for Black Achievers, celebrating Black Excellence in 2016 by People Inc, I won the award because I achieved the extraordinary things I overcame in my life.

I participated in the Bowling Special Olympics in 2017. I started going to Zumba in 2018, to exercise and be healthy, and I got in love with Zumba, I loved it so much that, I became a Zumba instructor in March 2024, I have the zumba certificate, I teach at FitnessAbilty, I love teaching Zumba but the most rewarding experience is to teach Zumba to all abilities and to see their smiles while I teach.
